Privacy
A note on privacy.
This is a small, personal publication. I want to be clear about the few tools that help me understand which reflections resonate. And how you stay in control of them.
Analytics tools
The website may use Google Analytics to understand general traffic. Pages visited, referral sources, approximate location, device type, and how readers engage with the site.
The website may use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages, through tools such as heatmaps and anonymised session recordings.
Consent comes first
These tools remain inactive until you accept analytics cookies through the small banner that appears on your first visit. If you decline, nothing is loaded and no analytics data is collected. Analytics are also never loaded on private areas of the site (/admin, /editorial, /dashboard, /preview), and sensitive form values (names, email addresses, passwords, reflection text, and any confirmation or unsubscribe tokens carried in a link) are never sent to analytics.
Email & subscription
If you subscribe, your email address is stored to send the confirmation email, the welcome note, and future essays. The Notebook uses double opt-in: nothing is sent to your inbox until you confirm through the link in the confirmation message. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, your subscription is deactivated. Limited information may be retained where necessary to honour your unsubscribe request and prevent future emails. Your personal information is never sold or used for unrelated purposes. The website's service providers may process limited information only as necessary to host the website, store subscriptions and submissions, and deliver emails.
Reflections & correspondence
When you send a reflection through the site, your name, email (if provided) and message are stored privately and read personally. Reflections are not published without your explicit permission.
Editorial dashboard
A private, password-protected editorial area is used to read subscriber and reflection activity. Access to the editorial dashboard is restricted to Mause-Darline Francois. The website's service providers may process limited information only as necessary to host the website, store submissions, and deliver emails.
Not about identifying you
Analytics information is used only to understand which essays are read and how the site is working. It is not used to personally identify individual readers, and it is never sold or shared.
Changing your mind
You may reject or withdraw analytics consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, which reopens the small consent banner so you can choose again. As an alternative, you may clear this site's storage in your browser, or use your browser's cookie settings for this domain.
Questions
If you have any question about this notice or your data, please write to me directly. Every note is read personally.
